Professional speech pathology services in Brisbane

Are you or someone close to you suffering from a speech disability?

Suzanne Claire offers professional speech pathology services in Brisbane for speech, language, reading and stuttering in children and adults.

Children who are late talkers and students are seen in the Brisbane clinic. They have unclear speech or use incorrect grammar or have reading problems. Tests are used to diagnose their speech or reading difficulties. Speech pathology services are planned to meet mutually agreed goals. Speech therapy is best on a weekly basis and may be needed for 1 - 2 terms. Reading is improved with the Lindamood system and the Cellfield programme.

Stuttering

Stuttering is best improved with intensive speech therapy; for young children, the Lidcombe programme is offered, and for high school students and adults, Ezy Speech is offered.

Young adults and ESL

Young adults need assistance with speech clarity and to improve their communication skills for their career, studies or socially. For those who speak English as a second language, accent reduction therapy is available to promote speech clarity in the Australian context.

Adults

Adults who have had a stroke or brain injury and cannot speak well are tested and given therapy including computer therapy. They can have aphasia, dysarthria or apraxia of speech. Intensive computer speech therapy is effective to improve the understanding of concepts; to speak clearly and to read. People who have swallowing problems can be assessed and helped. Those with a DVA Gold Card need a referral from their doctor.
